The Gannon University MakerSpace collaborated with Berman Bedding, a client at the Gannon University Small Business Development Center (SBDC), to fabricate a custom table for their new assembly process.
Established as a local, family-owned business in the heart of Erie, Pennsylvania, Berman Bedding has been dedicated to crafting high-quality bedding solutions for generations. Committed to delivering outstanding comfort and support, Berman Bedding has earned a strong reputation for its handcrafted expertise, customized solutions, quality materials, local production, and customer centric service.
The scope of this industrial partnership was design and build. Berman Bedding provided a list of requirements for the design and challenged the MakerSpace team to produce it. The design was created with Autodesk Fusion 360 that accommodated a variety of sizes of bedding, compressed the foam enough for the final seam to be closed, and provided a heat source to close the final seam. Every aspect of the design was custom-tailored to their process.
Using machines in our facilities like the Markforged Mark 2 FDM 3D printer, Bambu Lab P1S FDM 3D printer, and the Tormach 1100 MX CNC mill, the MakerSpace team was able to create a custom solution that blends craftmanship with modern comfort.
