On February 11, 2025, the Gannon University MakerSpace team had the pleasure of participating in the local STEAM fair at the Springfield Elementary School. The event was a vibrant gathering dedicated to inspire kids in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
Springfield Elementary School, part of the Northwestern School District, serves students from kindergarten through fifth grade. The school is dedicated to providing enriching and motivating educational experiences to all its students.
Our MakerSpace team displayed and demonstrated different types of additive manufacturing equipment and projects like 3D printers and prototypes. Students had an opportunity to observe how digital designs can be transformed into real objects, sparking their curiosity and interest towards the STEAM field.
Additionally, we introduced students to drone technology through our drone simulator. During our demonstrations, students got a chance for an amazing hands-on experience by flying one of our drone simulators on their own.
The enthusiasm and curiosity showed by the students was truly inspiring. Their eagerness to learn and explore new technologies highlights the importance of such community engagements.
We want to thank Springfield Elementary School for hosting this event and to all the students and parents who participated. At Gannon University's MakerSpace, we are truly committed to fostering education and look forward to future collaborations that discover passion for STEAM fields.
