The MakerSpace team recently hosted the next session in its workshop series, giving students an introduction to the art and science of welding. The workshop welcomed participants of all skill levels and offered a supportive space where they could learn, experiment, and build confidence through hands-on practice. Students used our Millermatic welder to get hands-on experience with MIG welding, and they also received an overview and live demonstration of TIG and Stick welding to understand the differences between each process.

Events like this play an important role in strengthening student life at Gannon. The MakerSpace provides a place where students can step beyond the classroom and explore new skills that spark creativity and curiosity. Throughout the entire workshop, the professional MakerSpace team was there to guide students, answer questions, and ensure that everyone felt comfortable and supported during the learning process.

The session did more than teach a valuable technical skill. It brought students together and helped them connect with peers who share an interest in engineering, design, and problem solving. These shared experiences build community and create opportunities for collaboration and friendship.

The MakerSpace continues to foster engagement across campus by offering accessible hands-on events that encourage students to learn, create, and grow. The welding workshop is just one example of how the MakerSpace helps students explore new technologies while bringing the community together.
