Join us on an exciting journey to preserve and bring back to life the iconic “Butterfly Bridge”, a timeless architectural concept by the legendary Frank Lloyd Wright. At the Gannon University MakerSpace, we are combining history with innovation, using advanced 3D laser scanning and full-color 3D printing to recreate this remarkable design in stunning detail.
This project captures not only the visual beauty of the Butterfly Bridge but also its historical and artistic importance. Before the original model returns from loan, our team is working to document and replicate every curve, angle, and texture with precision. Through cutting-edge scanning technology, we are transforming Wright’s visionary design into a digital blueprint that can be preserved, studied, and admired.
The recreated 3D model allows us to experience the structure as never before — tangible, colorful, and alive with architectural character. It’s a blend of art, history, and modern technology, showing how innovation can keep cultural heritage alive. The Butterfly Bridge project stands as a celebration of creative legacy and a reminder that through modern fabrication, we can keep the spirit of timeless design thriving for generations to come.
