The MakerSpace is Preparing for Spring with Custom Birdhouses

Updated: Feb 19

Creativity soared at the Gannon University MakerSpace when students, staff, and faculty gathered for a hands on DIY Birdhouse Workshop. This event allowed Gannon members to roll up their sleeves and build their very own custom birdhouses using a variety of tools and equipment. With guidance from experiences technicians, participants learned how to safely operate saws, drill, and sanders to craft sturdy and stylish shelters.

Once the wooden frames were assembled, students had the opportunity to personalize their creations in the paint booth, where they added colorful designs, unique patterns, and even Gannon-inspired touches. The workshop not only provided a fun and engaging experience, but also introduced students to fundamental woodworking skills, encouraging hands-on learning and creative problem solving.

Beyond building birdhouses, this event fostered a strong sense of community within the MakerSpace, bringing together students from different majors to collaborate and create! As Gannon members left with their handcrafted birdhouses, they also left with newfound skills and knowledge about the endless possibilities Gannon's MakerSpace has to offer!
