At the Gannon MakerSpace, we recently took on a project we are especially proud of. A full-size Liberty Bell, 3D printed right here in our lab. The bell was created to celebrate America 250, and it came together in six separate printed pieces, plus two more parts for the yoke that holds it up. The Gannon MakerSpace hosted its inaugural Combat Robotics 2026 competition, bringing together talented student teams for an exciting night of engineering and innovation. This event marked another step forward in building a strong engineering culture within the MakerSpace and the broader Erie community.

MakerSpace hosted Troop 59 from Our Lady of Peace on April 13th, giving scouts a hands on experience with laser engraving and 3D printing while supporting creativity in the community.

This holiday season, Gannon’s MakerSpace celebrated creativity through community partnerships and student involvement. We collaborated with Port Farms on custom ornaments, hosted a student ornament design contest with a winning design produced, and built a festive wooden Christmas tree to display ornaments, adding holiday spirit to the space and highlighting innovation and campus creativity.

The MakerSpace welding workshop brought students together for a hands-on learning experience that blended creativity, teamwork, and skill building. With guidance from the MakerSpace team, students learned the art and science of welding in a supportive environment that encouraged curiosity and collaboration, strengthening campus community and student engagement
